Catharine Valley Winery - a pleasant end or start
Submitted by swirt on November 20, 2007 - 6:06pm.Catharine Valley Winery is the Southern most winery on the East side of Seneca Lake. This location makes it a nice place to start or end if you are visiting the East side of the Seneca Lake Wine Trail. This winery is on the small side which gives it a nice touch and puts it some good company with other small wineries on this side of the lake.

Standing Stone Vineyards, big yellow hard to miss barn
Submitted by swirt on October 29, 2007 - 10:04pm.Standing Stone Vineyards is hard to miss along the Eastern side of Seneca Lake. The big yellow barn with adjoining tasting room is like a beacon in a sea of green grape leaves and vineyard posts. The vines that belong to Standing Stone are some of the oldest Vinifera (European) vines and rootstock in the area. The quality is easy to taste.
Lamoreaux Landing Wine Cellars - Hello Dry
Submitted by swirt on October 27, 2007 - 10:50pm.French names on American wineries often sounds a bit like putting on airs. In some cases they may be, but in the case of Lamoreaux Landing Wine Cellars it has more to do with a nearby small hamlet on Seneca Lake that bears the same name, than any French lineage. Lamoreaux Landing, the wine cellar, is located on the Eastern side of Seneca Lake and is the first winery to the North on the very winery dense section of the wine trail known as the Banana Belt.

The Stonecat Cafe - 5 stars in a fruit stand
Submitted by swirt on October 24, 2007 - 4:53pm.The Stonecat Cafe is one of Seneca Lake's star attractions. It began as a small cafe in an old fruit stand where it occupied less than half the space. I miss the days of an antique toy being on every table and menus delivered on boards adorned with twigs. I also miss the days of being able to stop in at the last minute on a Friday or Saturday night and still be able to get a table for two. A lot has changed, the cafe has taken over the entire building (which still looks like a fruit stand) , the antique toys are gone, th

Small Wineries, Big Wine in the Finger Lakes
Submitted by Anonymous on October 9, 2007 - 10:18pm.With all the rush to be bigger, better, faster, stronger, and supersized, sometimes it is nice to slow down and enjoy the smaller side of life. While many of the larger wineries on Seneca Lake will offer you the experience of being caught up in a crowd of busses and limos full of people having a good time, there are others that will gladly turn away a bus so that you can enjoy what they have to offer. The smaller wineries have a lot to offer.
