Atwater Estate Vineyards - Great Wine & Great View

Atwater VineyardsAtwater Estate Vineyards is located at the Southeastern side of the Seneca Lake Wine Trail.  It is well known for having a wide variety of wine and a relaxed, friendly, yet knowledgeable tasting room staff.  Its location and relaxed atmosphere makes it a great first stop if entering the trail from the South or a great finish if starting from the North.

Kings Garden Vineyards - A Dry little garden

Kings Garden Vineyards in Lodi, NY has been developing on the Eastern side of Seneca Lake for nearly two years and now it is finally open. It always impresses me when these new wineries start up and have great wine right out of the gate.

Dr. Konstantin Frank - Winery Review

The winery of Dr. Konstantin Frank is considered by many to be the Grand Daddy of the wineries in the Finger Lakes.  No it is not as old as the Pleasant Valley Wine Company, or as embattled as Bully Hill, nor was it the first to gain major international recognition (like Gold Seal was).  It is however the work and determination of Dr.

Catharine Valley Winery - a pleasant end or start

Catharine Valley Winery is the Southern most winery on the East side of Seneca Lake. This location makes it a nice place to start or end if you are visiting the East side of the Seneca Lake Wine Trail.   This winery is on the small side which gives it a nice touch and puts it some good company with other small wineries on this side of the lake.

Villa Bellangelo - Italianate Winery

Villa Bellangelo is an Italian style winery on the West side of Seneca Lake.  Long-time Finger Lakes winery visitors will recognize the building and location as the old Barrel People Winery (you can still see the barrel people off in the woods).  The winery produces a wide range of wines from very sweet, to bone dry.  It offers a little something for everyone.

Standing Stone Vineyards, big yellow hard to miss barn

Standing Stone Vineyards is hard to miss along the Eastern side of Seneca Lake.  The big yellow barn with adjoining tasting room is like a beacon in a sea of green grape leaves and vineyard posts.  The vines that belong to Standing Stone are some of the oldest Vinifera (European) vines and rootstock in the area.  The quality is easy to taste.

Lamoreaux Landing Wine Cellars - Hello Dry

French names on American wineries often sounds a bit like putting on airs. In some cases they may be, but in the case of Lamoreaux Landing Wine Cellars it has more to do with a nearby small hamlet on Seneca Lake that bears the same name, than any French lineage. Lamoreaux Landing, the wine cellar, is located on the Eastern side of Seneca Lake and is the first winery to the North on the very winery dense section of the wine trail known as the Banana Belt.

Sheldrake Point Winery on Cayuga Lake

Sheldrake Point Winery is sometimes easy to miss as it is not directly on Route 89 the way most of the Cayuga Lake wineries are. However, if you like dry and semi-dry wines it is well worth the few mile drive off Rt 89.  The winery sits down on County Road 153 in Ovid on the Western shoreline of Cayuga Lake and just being that close to the lake is worth the short drive down the hill.

Thirsty Owl Wine Company

Sitting on a great location overlooking the shore of Cayuga Lake is a winery with a lot of history. The Thirsty Owl Wine Company itself is not very old, but it has access to some of the most mature grapevines in the region.
